Guangzhou Daily News (All Media Reporter Xu Wenwen) Yesterday, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology held a press conference for the second quarter to interpret the industrial economic development situation in the province for the first half of the year. In the first half of the year, the province's industrial added value above designated size grew by 6.0% year-on-year, faster than the same period last year and the entire previous year, with the contribution rate of industry to the province's GDP growth rising to over 50%. Among them, driven by factors such as the global recovery of consumer electronics, key industries such as electronic information and petrochemicals have further strengthened their support, becoming the 'main force' in Guangdong's industrial economic growth.
Starting from March 1 this year, the 'Regulations on Promoting High-Quality Development of Manufacturing Industry in Guangdong Province' officially came into effect, strengthening confidence and determination for vigorous industrial development across the province. In the first half of the year, industrial production accelerated significantly, with the province's industrial added value above designated size growing by 6.0% year-on-year, faster than the same period last year and the entire previous year, and the contribution rate of industry to the province's GDP growth rising to over 50%.
Among them, driven by factors such as the global recovery of consumer electronics, in the first half of the year, production of products such as electronic components, integrated circuits, laptops, and LCD screens increased by more than 20%, with mobile phone production growing by 13.5%. The industrial added value of manufacturing in computers, communications, and other electronic devices became the 'main force' in Guangdong's industrial economic growth. From January to June, the province's electronic information manufacturing industry achieved an industrial added value of 500.222 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.6%, accounting for 25.5% of the province's industry; achieved a sales output value of 2.33 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.7%, accounting for 26.5% of the province's industry.
According to reports, in the first half of the year, Guangdong Province's industrial robot production increased by 37.6% year-on-year, accounting for more than half of the national total; new energy vehicle production exceeded 1.3 million units, with Guangzhou and Shenzhen selected as pilot cities for national intelligent connected vehicle 'vehicle-road-cloud integration' applications; both software and information service industries benefited simultaneously, with software business revenue increasing by 12.7% year-on-year.
With policy support, corporate operating efficiency has further improved. At the press conference, Wu Hong, a member of the party group and deputy director of the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology analyzed that from January to May data shows that revenue from industrial enterprises above designated size in the province increased by 5.3% year-on-year and profits increased by 27.7%, both indicators growing faster than last year's total and higher than the national average during the same period. The revenue and profit scale of Guangdong's industrial enterprises above designated size remain first in the country. Under improved operating efficiency, high-quality enterprise groups continue to expand. In the first half of the year, Guangdong added 60 national-level manufacturing single champions, ranking first in national increments, with eight manufacturing enterprises listed on A-shares.
Technological transformation is a key code for enterprises to maintain strong vitality; large-scale equipment renewal policies have provided new opportunities for enterprises to transform and upgrade while improving quality and efficiency. According to incomplete statistics since April when large-scale industrial equipment renewal work was fully launched in Guangdong Province, equipment supply-demand matching and actual delivery have exceeded 120 billion yuan across the province. From January to June, investment in industrial equipment renewal increased by 25.3% year-on-year, achieving its fastest growth rate in nearly a decade during this period. Driven by investment in industrial equipment renewal and technological transformation from January to June, overall industrial investment in the province grew by 15.5% year-on-year, maintaining double-digit growth for 42 consecutive months. By industry sector, manufacturing investment grew by 16.4% year-on-year; high-tech manufacturing investment grew by 23.9%; advanced manufacturing investment grew by 18.6%, with investment structure continuing to optimize.
In terms of supporting industries for the 'Hundred Thousand Project', development momentum is good among 15 main platforms for orderly transfer of industries; from January to June there were 329 new projects started and 259 new projects put into operation; there were also 330 projects receiving industry transfer with planned investments of about 154.2 billion yuan; achieving an industrial added value above designated size growth rate of 15.3% and fixed asset investment growth rate of 25.5%.
